About the Artist
Peggy M. Davis is a contemporary impressionist whose landscape and still life paintings are known for their peaceful settings and soothing colors. Her oil and watercolor pieces reflect her unique perspective of nature, which she has gleaned through a lifetime spent in the out of doors.
Many of Peggy’s landscapes are painted in the open air with its many challenges. The greatest challenge of painting in the open air is to capture the essence of a scene within two to three hours, before the light and shadows move.
Her larger paintings are produced in the studio where the environment is controlled. Using her plein air paintings, studies, and references as guides, Peggy modifies the composition, lighting, and colors to create an impression of a place where a viewer may feel as if they can absorb the peace and beauty of nature.
Peggy is a native of Richmond, Virginia and a third generation artist. Many of her favorite paintings have been painted alongside her mother, noted artist, Jessica N. Miller.
